tron-legacy-1 One of the GBUF Crew is very excited about the upcoming Tron Legacy release in 2010. Well, actually we all are one, but one is very very very very VERY excited!!! Find out who on the July 28th Podcast.

And there was a story synopsis, new Title change. Cool new Daft Punk score. New Light Cycles.

If I lived in San Diego, I’d open a Backpack and Fanny Pouch store down the street.

If Mark was there, he’d be peering over someone’s shoulder – Reading the video games’ preamble LOL. Some habits never die.

In the meantime, check out the viral sites created for Tron Legacy

…and these videos of the arcade opening from Comic Con.

Good Movies We Hate

Is it possible that these Good Movies “suck balls”? Do they “romanticize lunacy”? Or are they “too nostalgic”?

There are all comments that come up in Part Two of our look at Good Movies We Hate. The drinks keep refilling and the thought processes drain as things best left unsaid get said on this final Summer Special Episode.

Forgive Us.

Or Not…

tokyo zombie box

On my last DVD buying spree, I spotted this beauty in the foreign imports section (which is woefully small at the local Wal-Mart). Being a fan of the zombie genre, I picked it up and decided to buy it almost immediately, solely based on the accolades on the back of the box. I’ve been burned before by doing this, but not this time.

I finally got around to watching this last weekend with my girlfriend, another zombie aficionado, and we were both laughing out loud in several places. The zombies are created by being buried in this toxic mountain of garbage called “Black Fuji”. Like other zombie films, their bite will kill and turn you into a zombie too. The action is over-the-top in places, but perfectly so.

The movie follows the adventures of a couple of slackers that would rather train in Jui-Jitsu than do any actual work. The funny is brought by the sheer incompetence of these guys in trying to get out of the city and their battles with the Romero-esque zombies. Let me put it this way: The guy with the afro is like Allen… easily distracted by shiny objects. :)

Just when you think you know where this movie is going, they throw a monkey wrench into the works and, with the use of a short animated sequence, it goes from being in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, to 5 years later and civilization, at least in Tokyo, has fallen. The rich, being decadent, require entertainment. What better entertainment than gladiatorial-style zombie fights?

I’m not going to give any more away of this wonderful little film. I highly recommend you watch it for yourself if you’re in any way interested in zombie movies, or if you just like a good laugh. Keep an eye out for how power is generated in the new Tokyo.

Despite the make-up effects being a bit hokey at times, the charm of this movie completely won me over.

I’d have to rate this: GOOD

Skeleton Crew Review

For a light news week, we once again blathered on!  There is a podcast and a half here! Check out the Box Office reports, News and our rather animated review of “Skeleton Crew”

Moments of Extreme Stupidity by Allen: 1) Donald Sutherland, not Donald Pleasance, starred in Commander in Chief 2) Roman Polanski did in fact direct Chinatown, somehow I gave John Houston the credit!
