John, Mark and Ross go completely off the rails with this episode. There are so many tangents and side trips, it’s amazing that we get from start to finish.
Listen in as we review some of the stuff we’ve posted over the last little while, including:
- You’re So Wrong… about Stephen Sommers by Ross
- A new MPAA warning label
- Mark shows Grindhouse some love
- Ross reviews Nine and gives a comparison to Sex in the City
- Sean Young’s Dune home movies
The movie that we review this week is the relatively low budget vampire flick, Daybreakers. It stars Ethan Hawke as a vampire haematologist, trying to create an artificial blood supply for a world filled with vampires and a dwindling human blood supply for food. He teams up with a band of rogue humans (that includes Willem Dafoe) in an attempt to find a cure.
Listen in to hear the finer points of what we thought of the movie.
Ross: BAD
John: BAD
Mark: BAD

In today’s podcast, we review 3 movies: Tooth Fairy, It’s Complicated and The Descent: Part 2. Ross wasn’t able to join us, so we keep our Michelle Rodriguez jokes to a minimum. Yes, I know she isn’t in any of these films. That doesn’t stop us from making fun of her.
If you think we’re wrong with any of our reviews, or have something to add to the mix, please feel free to email us at podcast@goodbaduglyfilms.com or leave us a voice mail with Skype.
May the 4th be with you…

We’re a man down today as Johnny was called in to work. He won’t be giving his two cents to today’s topics (and we get to make fun of him). We start off by examining a few of the blog posts we made and some of the news in the past week. Here’s a brief rundown of what’s in store for you:
Movies I Wish I Could Un-See: Ross wants all recollections of Hook gone, and Allen would like to have Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom expunged from his memory - Movies to Introduce People To: John chose the Todd Solondz film, Happiness as the one he likes to show his friends for the first time, while Allen wants to show you The Long Kiss Goodnight, by Renny Harlin
- Helen Mirren joins the Arthur remake
- Avatar breaks even more records, this time in DVD/Blu-Ray sales
- Against the odds, Blockbuster’s stock rises thanks to the sweetheart studio deals
- With MGM’s financial woes, the fate of James Bond is up in the air
- Joss Whedon in line to direct Marvel Comic’s Avengers movie
- Ross nerds out talking about Star Wars
The movie we review this week is Michael Bay’s Armageddon. With it getting a brand new Blu-Ray release, we thought we’d bust out the old DVD of it and watch it again. We give our thoughts about what works and what doesn’t, but pretty much end up at the same place in the end. Johnny’s input would have been really appreciated for this because I think he might have a different perspective.

If you think that we’reway off in our opinions, or you’d like to tell us what you think, how about sending us an email to podcast@goodbaduglyfilms.com, adding a comment to this article, or leaving us a voice mail with Skype.

As you might have picked up from the picture, instead of our usual new releases movie reviews, we decided to review some of our favorite DVDs. Now, these aren’t necessarily our favorite movies, but the DVDs are our favorites for one or more reasons, making us come back to them time after time. Listen in to see who brings what to the table and why we think they’re the top of our collections.
Ross

Ross brought in The Legacy Collection from Universal, with Dracula being his favorite in this subset of his collection.
Each set has the movie that made each monster famous, as well as follow-up movies.
Each set has sleeve with a plastic window with graphics on it.
Allen

Allen brought his beloved Alien Quadrilogy collection to discuss. This NINE disk set is as close to a definitive collection of the Alien movies as you’re going to get.
Each movie is presented in both the theatrical version and a Director’s Cut or Special Edition.
Tons and tons of special features round out this package.
John

Ever the rebel, Johnny can’t just pick one movie, he has to go for two.
First up is Weird Al’s UHF. The commentary with Al and his encyclopaedic knowledge of everyone and everything in the movie is impressive.
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist and its commentaries are also why John has this at the top of his DVD list.
Mark

The 5 disc Collector’s Edition Blade Runner set in the numbered brief case is Mark’s favorite set of disk in his collection.
Like the Alien Quadrilogy set of Allen’s, this set was put together by Charles de Lauzirika. His attention to detail and the depths that he goes to make sure that the collection is as complete as possible is incredible. His 3.5 hour documentary, Dangerous Days, on the making of Blade Runner, make this a must-have.
We also list off our second choices in our collections, but you’re going to have to listen in to see what those are.
If you’d like to comment on our movie selections, or like to tell us what your are, please feel free to drop us an email at podcast@goodbaduglyfilms.com or leave a voicemail via Skype.
